Through the past few weeks we have been reaching out to many airlines: American Airlines, delta, and united airlines. They supplied us with 3 light and thin kits.
We have updated our products after our forms were filled out, we got suggestions like “make everything travel size.” Which is exactly what we did.
We now have Emergen-C which boosts your immune system and gives you a little more energy. We have surface wipes to clean anything in your area or isle. Especially the tray table, germs stay on there for 3-4 days. We also have hand sanitizer that you can use after you use the bathroom, and before you eat. Lastly we have a comfortable mask that covers your whole mouth without any huge holes. All of these things will help travelers and sick travelers.

The CBL Forum was an amazing experience that went very well. At the beginning of the CBL Forum, our group was struggling a bit, as we only 2 of our members, but as the day went on, we then found success in our presentation. We also found a pattern for our presentation which made it much easier. I talked about the problem, Destin talked about the solution, then we answered questions and talked about the data together. On our table we put our kits down next to our poster. We opened one of the kits and took out the materials so the viewers could see everything.

Our final idea for our project is to make kits. Inside of these kits we will put in hand sanitizer, alcohol wipes, etc... . We will try to sell these items for people who are going onto planes. These kits will help them profoundly to prevent sickness. This will happen because with the resources in the kit they can prevent and kill many of the germs on the plane. In our group Destin is responsible for supplying materials, Theo is responsible for our feedback and surveys. Kai is responsible for contacting people who work on airlines. One of the major difficulties that our group has faced is trying to find a way to get the kits on the plane in the small amount of time that we have. We are still finding a solution for this major problem.

This week for us was again, successful and important. We bought the products needed to build 6 separate kits.
We gave some of our kits to our teacher who is going on a flight, and he agreed to passing some of them out to random passengers. Inside of the kit, we included a QR code that took the passenger to a survey that provided us with information to improve our solution even more.
We are still awaiting our feedback but we are expecting that we will soon make some crucial changes and improvements.

Our Broad idea is how to prevent a large amount of people from getting sick on planes. There is a 80% chance of getting sick when sitting on a plane, next to a person who is sick. There is a 30% chance of getting sick if you're sitting behind them, in front, or across from them. Many germs could also lie on objects for over a week. These large chances make it easy for germs to spread quickly on a plane. We wanted to find a solution to lessen these chances as make as we could. So we started to brainstorm ideas. Throughout week 2 of CBL my group and I finalized our problem. We decided that we are going to focus on “why it’s so common to catch diseases on planes.” Our group decided this because our families have experienced this and it’s destroys the family health. The flu is one of the most common illnesses, especially around winter time. During the winter people like to travel to snowy areas to ski or snowboard. They are all exposed to all the nasty germs on planes. If there is just 1 person on a plane who is sick and coughing throughout the flight, there is a much bigger chance of catching that illnesses. If your are in a 3 foot radius of someone who is sick, there is an 80% chance of getting their illnesses.
Our solution to this problem was to create kits that had different cleaning and sanitation products, for example: A protective mask that goes fully around your mouth without any gaping holes, hand sanitizer (the one that kills bacteria), hand and/or surface wipes, chewable Vitamin C. These products will help people who are healthy and sick, they will help contain peoples coughs and airborne germs and protect anyone who isn’t sick or ill. Hand sanitizer will kill all the germs your are touching from the tray tables, the toilet handles, and seat pocket items. The Surface wipes will help clean the area around you and occasionally the person. The Vitamin C will help build immunity defenses. This product will reduce the spread of illnesses on planes.
We are three Windward School students looking for a solution, for a worldwide problem.
